Kölsch is a beer of protected geographical origin that may be produced only in Cologne. Top-fermentation combined with cold maturation (lager style) gives the beer the characteristic fruity notes of an ale and the very light, dry lager body. The result is a highly drinkable, light, and refreshing beer. Früh is the only Kölsch brewery to hold the Slow Brewing certification, which requires an annual evaluation of over 900 parameters, and the beer’s taste and quality are verified monthly by experts at the Weihenstephan Research Center for Brewing.
